BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, February 11, 2020 - Doing couple stuff is fun. But in every relationship there's always room to grow, so if you're a new gaming couple, there's no better way to level up your communication skills than by playing some of our favourite picks for co-op games.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (PS4, Switch)
Communication is key in this game. But even if you failed disarming the bomb, you can always try again and definitely learn from previous mistakes. Though it can get stressful sometimes, but keep a cool head and you'll definitely gonna have a blast (pun intended).
Also try: Overcooked, Portal 2, Fat Princess
Monster Hunter series (3DS, Switch)
At some point during the 3DS era (and to some extent the PSP), the portable outings of Monster Hunter brought a lot of people together in their bid to hunt down those mythical creatures. As a co-op game, if you're looking a bit more challenge and satisfying looting and crafting mechanic, taking down a 20 foot lava spewing lizard together never gets old.
Also try: Phantasy Star Portable, Diablo 3, Nine Parchment
The Wolf Among Us (Multi)
Narrative driven games as co-op experience is something rarely gets mentioned partly because its not supposed to be enjoyed that way. But, when Netflix brought along interactive film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, suddenly, games developed by Telltale games opened up a new way to play and binge watch together. Who wouldn't enjoy cosying up and solve a murder mystery set in the Fable universe?
Also try: Man of Medan, Until Dawn, Heavy Rain, Phoenix Wright series, Steins Gate, The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands
Sega Genesis Classics (PS4, Xbox, Switch)
When it comes to couch co-op, nothing beats the classics. Modern games can get too overwhelming and that's where old favourites such as on the Sega Genesis Classics like the Streets of Rage series and Gunstar Heroes, are not only good examples of simpler but enjoyable co-op games. Games like these are good opportunities to open up and share some of your early gaming experiences with your partner.
Also try: Collection of Mana, Contra Anniversary Collection
Animal Crossing (NDS, 3DS, Switch)
We had a lot of fond memories playing this game when Wild World was released for the NDS, letting you play wirelessly with a partner. This tradition carried on with New Leaf and hopefully continues when the game arrives for the Switch next month. If you're looking for a chill out gaming session, whether its the DS, 3DS or the Switch, in Animal Crossing there's a whole lot of nothing to do with your partner, but its the satisfying kind of nothing.
Also try: Stardew Valley
That's all.. for now.
Nothing beats saving the princess together and there are tons more co-op games out there where you and your significant other can enjoy, whether its short burst of fun of Castle Crashers or long term endeavor like building a city in Minecraft or Dragon Quest Builders, there's always a game that could grow your bond stronger.
