NEWS | Jay and Silent Bob Goes 8-bit on the Switch Next Week
INTERABANG Entertainment is releasing Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl, the retro 8-bit companion for the upcoming Jay and Silent Bob Chronic Blunt Punch next Thursday, May 7.
In Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl, gamers will play as Jay and Silent Bob in a retro 8-bit side scrolling brawler, solo or with a friend, and fight their way through mallrats, delinquents and security guards to get out of the mall and back to the Quickstop.
Serving as a companion and prequel to Interabang Entertainment’s Jay and Silent Bob Chronic Blunt Punch, Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl was conceived as a free digital bonus game for backers of the Jay and Silent Bob Chronic Blunt Punch crowdfunding campaign and available for fans who want to pre-order the deluxe edition of Chronic Blunt Punch.
The two hetero life mates are hunted by chief rent-a-cop and his off duty officers. Players pummel enemies with hard-hitting combos, dash attacks, and elbow drops along with a random assortment of weapons as they battle their way out of the mall.
The game features two player co-op action with an 8-bit aesthetic and draws gameplay style from action brawlers on the Nintendo Entertainment Systems, particularly inspired by River City Ransom and Double Dragon II, with contemporary game play mechanics.
Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl includes a rogues gallery of enemies from Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse and a crisp original chiptune soundtrack.
Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl will be available through the Switch digital store and Steam for $14.99.
Limited Run Games will be opening up limited-time pre-order for the physical collector’s Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge of Jay and Silent Bob Mall Brawl and will be playable on the original as well as other compatible retro Nintendo Entertainment Systems.
