NEWS | Atelier Marie Remake Brings Back Magical RPG Adventure for Anniversary Year
KOEI TECMO and developer GUST Studios are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Atelier game series with the upcoming release of Atelier Marie Remake: Alchemist of Salburg. The reimagined version of their classic title will be available digitally on July 17, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC via Steam.
Atelier Marie Remake: Alchemist of Salburg takes players back to the Royal Academy of Magic, where they will follow the story of Marie, a struggling student gifted an alchemy atelier by her teacher. Her goal is to create an item that satisfies her teacher within five years, but to do so, she will need to improve her alchemy skills, gather materials, earn money, and hire adventurers. The game offers a carefree adventure where players can navigate at their own pace, with the ultimate goal of graduating from the academy.
The game features all-new graphics that use modern techniques to bring Marie and her friends to life. Character and event stills have been newly illustrated, with 2D animations of character stills freshly implemented. 3D models of characters and stages are also being added, along with cute chibi-style characters ready to explore.
The Atelier series origin story maintains the simple and highly flexible playability of the original game, with expanded tutorials and guidance on moving around town and collecting items. The game has improved mini-game controls, gameplay, and balance adjustments for enhanced comfort and presentation of both syntheses and battles.
Fans of the original version and newcomers to the Atelier series will enjoy many new elements, including the Unlimited Mode, which allows players to take their time without the deadline of graduating in five years. Additional social events have been added, enabling players to interact with the main characters and uncover new aspects and charms that were not included in the original game. The game also features the always-helpful "Professor Ingrid's Tasks," which act as a guide for players, solving the question "what should I do next?"
KOEI TECMO America has also announced a special Atelier Marie Remake: Alchemist of Salburg Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes all the content and DLC of the base game, original "Atelier Marie Plus" content, an extra BGM pack, and the "Another Look" costume set.
