NEWS | Between Horizons Devlog Explores Semi Open World and Branching Narratives for Unique Player Experience
A NEW sci-fi detective platformer, "Between Horizons," is set to launch later this year from DigiTales Interactive.
The game takes place on a massive spaceship carrying advocates for mankind on a mission to find an oasis away from a tormented and destroyed Earth. However, the game's developers pose an essential question: what about the middle generations? Those who were born on the ship never asked to be part of the mission and won’t live to see the end of the 130-year journey.
"Between Horizons" is an allegory for our middle generations trying to hold out hope, and the game's compelling and plausible sci-fi plot invites players to weigh intergenerational responsibility against personal freedom. The game's semi-open world and branching narratives allow players to determine their own destiny on the ship, with every action and consequent reaction affecting the story's progression.
Players can expect a unique, beautiful art style that mixes timeless pixel art with 3D environments and compelling visual effects. The game merges investigative-style gameplay with a branching sci-fi story in an ever-expanding, gritty Metroidvania-style environment.
However, there are no second chances in "Between Horizons." Submitting wrong solutions means the story will go on, and players live with the consequences. The game's branching storylines and endings are based on player decisions, making every choice count.
"Between Horizons" is the second title by DigiTales Interactive, following the hugely successful launch of the 2D sci-fi noir adventure, "Lacuna." The game will be published by Assemble Entertainment and available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5 later in 2023. — Geeks Republika
