NEWS | Alone in the Dark Returns with Re-Imagined Survival Horror Game from THQ Nordic
THQ Nordic has announced its attendance at PAX East 2023, where they will be showcasing five different games across 45 stations, including Alone in the Dark, Outcast 2, Tempest Rising, Wreckreation, and a completely new title, which has not yet been announced.
Gamers attending PAX East will have the opportunity to play an exclusive, hands-on demo of the unannounced game at the THQ Nordic booth. The event will be held in Boston from April 6th to April 9th, 2023.
The other four games being showcased by THQ Nordic at the event are Alone in the Dark, Tempest Rising, Wreckreation, and Outcast 2 - A New Beginning. Among these, Alone in the Dark is the most exciting, as THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have re-imagined the classic survival horror game, which was first released in the 1990s.
Alone in the Dark is set in the gothic American south and features two protagonists, Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. Players can choose to play as either character and explore their environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles, and uncover the true secret of Derceto Manor.
The game is faithful to the original trilogy, incorporating characters, places, and themes from the 1990s classic while presenting a completely original story. Players who are familiar with the original games will recognize many things, while newcomers can enjoy the game without any prior knowledge.
Alone in the Dark features combat, puzzle-solving, exploration, and story elements. It is set in a noir-style Lovecraftian horror atmosphere, where the familiar meets the surreal. The game is supported by a team of experienced professionals, including Mikael Hedberg, the cult horror writer of SOMA and Amnesia, monster designer and legendary Guillermo del Toro collaborator, Guy Davis, and Doom Jazz legend Jason Köhnen, who provides his eerie and haunting melodies for the right atmosphere. — Geeks Republika
