NEWS | System Shock Remake to Launch on May 30 with All-New Features

THE wait is finally over for System Shock fans, as the fully-fledged remake of the groundbreaking original from 1994 will go on sale on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. The PC edition of the game will be available for purchase via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.

Initially, the game was set to be released by the end of March, but the developers, Nightdive Studios, announced that it was not feasible. The remake combines the cult gameplay of the iconic original game with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, and all-new sounds and music.

The game offers players the chance to return to Citadel Station and take on the role of a hacker who awakens from a coma to find that the space station has been taken over by a rogue AI named SHODAN. Players use a combination of stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry to make their way through Citadel Station's all-new areas, encountering traps, puzzles, and secrets along the way.

The PC edition of System Shock is available for pre-order now and includes a free copy of the upcoming System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for all early buyers. Additionally, a newly released playable demo of the game is now available on the respective storefronts of the aforementioned online marketplaces.

Console editions of System Shock will also be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series S|X in the future, but further details on this have yet to be released. — Geeks Republika
