God of War gets a demake

Nothing says retro than.. de-makes?

THE de-makes keeps on rolling! Fans of God of War are now able to experience Kratos in all of his 8-bit glory on the PC... for Free!

The game, Bit of War was developed by Holmade Games took over a period of five years to complete this loose re-creation of the wildly popular PS2/PS3 series.

As a result, you can't help but feel very impressed by the game. Just check the video!

admit it, you are impressed, if not, just pressed.

The game features 8-bit sprites and chip-tunes as many would expect that these type of games should include, hell, its even a bit bloodier than most NES games I've seen so far. You can download the game from here.

Speaking of de-makes, there are a lot of games at the moment that has been given this treatment, a term for games that has been reduced to 16-bit or 8-bit from their original state.

While not really a new thing, several series that has made the jump to 3D did revert back to their old ways for some systems (i.e Sonic Advance series on the GBA, Megaman 9 and 10 on the PSN) but to fully re-create a game that started off as visually impressive and turn it into a NES game takes a lot of dedication and hard work. Kudos to those guys!

Also, check out these equally well made de-makes of popular games now in no particular order of preference: Dark Void ZeroD-Pad HeroFinal Fantary VII, any games from Eric Ruth Games especially Pixel Force: Left for Dead and Super Smash Land.
