NEWS | Physical Edition Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon Chronicles Debuts in July

INTI Creates and ArtPlay is set to release a physical Japanese version of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon Chronicles, including the game and its sequel, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2. 

This Japanese release will be in multi-language and will go on sale on July 13, 2023, with the game currently available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 through PlayAsia.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon Chronicles is considered to be a spiritual successor to the classic Castlevania series where players go on a journey of gothic horror, action, and adventure set in the late 18th century. 

The game follows the story of demon slayer Zangetsu, who sets out to defeat demon summoner Gebel and his army of demons to save the world. Along the way, players meet other playable characters, each with their own unique abilities and playstyles.

Curse of the Moon features beautiful 8-bit pixel art, catchy music, and fast-paced gameplay, with multiple stages and bosses. Players can choose to play through the game in multiple ways, with different paths and endings depending on their choices. The game also features a unique ability to switch between characters on the fly, allowing players to utilise each character's unique abilities to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. The "Curse" system allows players to sacrifice their own health to perform powerful attacks and abilities.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon received critical acclaim for its nostalgic charm, challenging gameplay, and satisfying mechanics. The game's success led to a sequel, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2, released in 2020.

Originally distributed as a digital-only game, the physical version of games was released individually through Limited Run Games.
